UPDATE Someone pointed out this was an issue with the standard library not thepiler. That's probably correct because otherwise that simple division or double casting would be giving inconsistent results in the same machine. But saying that the issue was the standard library implementation doesn't reflect the deeper concern which is that even functions defined in the language standard aren't well enough specified to avoid this kind of inconsistency. The same difficulty is a major cause for inconsistencies in the grammar implementations which do generatepiler-specific problems - as pointed out in other answers.
